How to go about On Page Optimization Successfully

As a webmaster you are aware of the importance of SEO, and on page optimization is the first of these considerations. Although it may sound tricky and an inexperienced person may worry about doing it successfully, it is in reality easy, and with a little common sense, one can learn many of these techniques in a snap.

So let’s look at some of them.

  • Bag that tag. The title tag is what is going to first attract the search engines and visitors to your site, so take care to make it brief and yet graphic enough to help them identify your site as something they want to examine. See that it includes not only your site name or business name but also has the keywords that ascertain the kind of website yours is.
  • Although Meta tags themselves are not given as much importance as they once were, you must still pay close attention to your meta description for On Page Optimization as it may make the difference between a visitor choosing to go to your site or not to. See that it briefly yet clearly focuses on your services and products. It must attract prospective visitors by letting them know what is unique about your site, which could be anything from your low rates to the special services you offer.
  • Pay attention to those HTML tags in On Page Optimization. Of course the search engines are going to look very closely at what is inside your header tags so see that they describe the site’s title clearly. You can judiciously employ various styles such as italics and bold to enhance your header.
  • Keywords are key. There’s no getting away from it. Your keywords and their synonyms are part and parcel of your On Page Optimization. You must, therefore research and select the keywords that will work best for you. There are several good tools such as Google Adwords Keyword Tool that can assist you with this. And although one may be tempted to stuff as many keywords as possible into a page remember that moderation is the best bet for search engine recognition.
  • There is also no doubt that link optimization is a very important part of On Page Optimization. Not only do the search engines like them but so do your visitors as they help them navigate more easily. See that the keywords you use in anchor text are suitable and meaningful. All internal link structures must be defined by clear, concise and relevant text and are preferable to links such as “click here”.
  • Present the right image. Something that is often overlooked in On Page Optimization is image optimization. Since search engines can read only text and not images, using special tags for your images can go a long way in SEO.  See that the image file names are meaningful. What a difference there is in the name ‘mountain gorillas’ rather than just a group of letters and numbers with .jpg at the end!

And don’t forget to use the image keywords in your link text whenever linking.

So there you have it. On Page Optimization doesn’t look as difficult as you thought it would, does it?  What’s that they say about practice making perfect?
